In January a group of members met over dinner to discuss whether there was value in setting up a Charity IT Leaders Community of Interest specifically for people involved in business analysis. The attendees were from a good mix of charities and had some very interesting and robust discussions. All were keen to make this group a reality, relishing the idea they can learn from each other and agreeing that there is no such thing as pure BA in the charities represented, that all have to do everything or anything that needs to be done to get a project in and all often find themselves in small limited teams.
The group decided they would like a regular quarterly meeting for an hour or so of formal topics, followed by informal discussion to allow people to just ask questions of the group and see where it leads.
Several topics were identified for future discussion including: Story mapping, Tools, Modelling, what people who have been on training course learnt, Lean, Agile, Digital mentoring, key competencies for a BA, job titles v job roles & how to define themselves.
The first meeting will be held in late April and more details will be available soon.
